Cute little outfits sized 3-6 months and 6-9 months. Everyone at the shower usually buy ‘newborn’ and 0-3 months, and babies grow out of them pretty quickly.

Diapers are also a great gift, as they are ALWAYS needed. I would get a case of size 2, so mom already has them on hand when baby grows to next size. I’m sure she got lots of size 1 at the baby shower.

Clothes and diapers! You can never have enough of either of them. And if the new parents already have so much of these get a larger size. They’re definately going to need it!

Noah’s first toys were BIG cloth colored Einstein blocks, play plastic keys, a few things to hang from the car seat, and a neat rattle.
You could also put together a baby medicine basket (gas drops, gripe water, pacifier, thermometer).
And, mom’s always enjoy diaper bags. Buy a nice bag and fill it up. I love the chocolate brown bags w/ blue bows.

clothing, a swing, books, rattles, keep in mind the little one won’t be doing a lot on his own right off but stuff for mom might be really helpful too:)

Bibs! Lots of bibs! Diapers is always an added bonus. I use to love getting the soft blue pj’s with the feet attached.

a Certificate of Deposit, Stocks or just cash to start his first savings account. You can never start planning for college to early. He will thank you later.

I think you want something that can be used for a long time, or at least when you look back at pictures later on, that they are funny or the cutest pics you ever saw.

Maybe a cute lovie (stuffed animal with a tiny blanket attached, that will usually help them sleep later if they make the association, that is what my sister got my son) get 2 in case one gets lost, than mama has one hidden in the closet and it is exactly the same, saves tears.

If the baby doesn’t already have one, than a babies first year book. They are the cutest thing, and they will provide many memories.

I suggest possibly getting a journal, a big one. One thing that I started for my son, is a journal about him. I will right entries about his days, things he is going through, cute things, difficult things. This will provide a reference for him later, and anything he wants to know will be in it, and will help avoid mistakes with timelines later, as well as provide him with the necessary info when he has kids later. :)
Or one of the cutest, most unique outfits you can find.

A sleep book for mama. I recommend “The No Cry Sleep Solutions” book by Elizabeth Pantley. It will help him sleep through the night.

Clothes and nappies are always welcome for any new Mum. Sometimes you can combine the practicality of both into stunning and unusual looking presents.

To see what I mean have a look at. (I’m not trying to spam, we don’t deliver to the US). Under baby gifts there are nappy cakes which are disposable nappies wrapped in blankets or sheets and decorated to look like fancy cakes. They look great but are also practical.

Also look at the Baby Buds section, which are bouquets of clothes such as jumpsuits, socks etc made to look like flower bouquets. Again different but practical.

I’m sure you could search for nappy / diaper cakes or baby / clothes bouquets to find a local supplier in your area.

I hope those ideas are helpful. :)
