What’s a good gift for Muslim baby? Is there anything special that would be most appreciated?

thejanith asked:

A friend (Christian) wants to know if there’s anything special that Muslims would appreciate for their baby girl, especially Indonesian Muslims. Is there anything (easily mailable) that’s traditional as a baby gift?

Please, serious answers only. Anything insulting, including racial slurs, is inappropriate and will be reported.

How about a copy of the Koran that he will have and enjoy as he gets older?

pre-cooked bacon.
Just kidding, as long as the gift doesn’t break their taboos or customs, then trying to keep religion in it can be kind of insulting, or at least just strange. I would be weirded out if I was sent a cross from a jewish friend.

~well to me, a baby is a baby, muslim or otherwise. When I hear a friend is pregnant, I start a gift bag. I buy a nice baby gift bag that can be for a boy or a girl and start buying little things each week to put in it. Diapers (of course) bottles, baby nail clippers, bottle brushes, pacifiers, bibs, onesies, clothes, whatever! and since I am buying little things every week, it does not cost much. By the time the baby is here, there is a wonderful bag full of goodies for my friend. I think this is appropriate for any baby. If you dont want to do this, a gift card would be good, then they can pick out what they want~
