What can I do with too many baby gifts?
Hi all,
Recently I had a get together to celebrate our newborn baby girl. We had around 30 families and all of them got our little angel lots of beautiful and expensive gifts. But the problem is that none of them have given us a gift receipt. We have too many baby blankets and baby dresses which is of no use since most of them will be worn only a few times (our baby is a big size, already wearing 3-6 months). I dont want to call each and every guest and ask for a gift receipt.
Is there any way I can know where the clothes were brought from?
I **** it to see it all going to waste or going to a donation. It would really help to exchange them for something we need like diapers, etc but how do I find out where a particular dress was purchased?
Thanks
To : This mommy makes pretty babies - I know its rude to ask the gift for a receipt, thats why I have already mentioned that I dont want to ask the guest for the receipt.
And about being ungrateful, I’m not trying to be ungrateful to our friends. I’ve already mentioned that they have given us beautiful and expensive gifts but some of the dresses dont even fit. Thats why was trying to get something useful.

You can go to each store and see what they sell or you can sell them through Craigslist and use the money to buy diapers still.

this happend to me. When I was pregnant with twins, people bought me soooo much stuff. We litterally didn’t have the space to put all the clothes and blankets.
If you live in canada or the states, just keep the tags on and exchange them for a gift card at either babys r us or walmart. We didn’t have receipts for anything, but the stores took most of the stuff back and gave us a gift card

I think its rude to ask each guest for a receipt. Just me but if you asked me that I would never buy you a gift again. Sounds kinda ungrateful. You could try taking them to Wal-Mart or Target and if they punch the numbers in the cash register and the item comes up they will let you exchange or get store credit without a receipt. You could also try to google each item and see what stores pop up. Some stores have strict receipt policy’s!

I would put it on ebay or criagslist…maybe have a yard sale…or if you know anyone thats pregnant with a girl sell it to them.

Go to the websites of some of the larger chain stores (Target, WalMart, Penney’s etc)
Search through children’s/babies clothing to see if the brand names of the clothes (see the hang tags or tags inside the garments) are sold at each of those stores. Then gather up the stuff from each of those and see if you can exchange for stuff you need.
You can also gently ask some of the guests where they got ‘that absolutely adorable little (blank). I just love it!’ They will tell you where they got it so you can return it.
You can also just be honest and say you got so much stuff and baby is growing so fast, you are afraid she will never get to wear it. Some people may then volunteer to take it and exchange it.

did you register at a particular place? Try returning the items there. I know from experience that Babies R Us give gift cards for returned items, if they carry it…even if not bought there.

Some brands are only sold at certain stores. Most big box stores (Sears, The Bay, Wal Mart, etc) have their own brands and would only be sold at their stores.
You could also try selling on CraigsList or EBay
