what baby gifts should she register for?

baby gifts
sleepy_grrl asked:

My friend is having her first baby, and she doesn’t know what to register for for her baby shower. What sort of things should she buy/register for that will help her the most when she has her newborn? (practical stuff only… in other words, not engraved rattles or anything like that) Advice from mothers would be very appreciated! Thanks
Just to clarify… I’m not looking for WHERE to register, but WHAT THINGS to register for. Thanks.

1st you should start with things you need and then with things you want. Pick a wide price rage starting with very low priced items to high priced items so that everyone’s budget can be met.

Your friend should register at a place like Babies R Us, where they have a wide variety of useful, practical baby items. She should definitely put things like crib sheets, blankets, bottles, swing, bouncy seat, car seat, stroller, crib bedding set, mobile, baby book, newborn clothing (like kimonos and onesies).

Babies R Us has a wonderful list for registries that I believe they post online. It’s very extensive so you can tailor it to your budget if needed.

yeah, make sure you put stuff people can affor, but also you can add the high priced items that you need. for instance, blankets, onesis, (depending on the weather when the child is born) you can register for a ****** pump, if breastfeeding, but the bigger things you will need are like a crib, unless you find a good deal at a garage sale, a carseat, crib set, one of those little things you put the baby in and let them sit freely, that vibrates, its like a little chair, i cant think of the name of it. then a swing, and just little toys and things like that. the BEST investment i ever got or recieved and i STILL use to this day is a video monitor, and my daughter is 2 and we still ise it! its a monitor that is a tv and you can see them on it, its so cool! oh , and the best idea for a baby shower is, when you send the invatation, write in there “everybody, try to bring a package of diapers we can stack and see how tall we can make it!” or something creative. you will need lots of diapers, and i had enough diapers for atleast 6 months after my shower.

well tell your friend good luck and enjoy her baby

You should register for everything that you think you may need. My registry included clothing sets in sizes from 0-3 month all the way up to 9-12 months. (also a baby hamper and special detergent) I registered for diapers and wipes. Also, the crib, dresser, and changing table, mattress, bedding, and multiple sets of sheets. I registered for baby wash products (powder, shampoo, and wash). Don’t be afraid to register for things that will help with nursing or feeding in general such as the high chair, bottles, ****** pump, baby spoons, and a nursing chair. Oh I almost forgot, the bassinet, multiple (educational) toys, the mobile, books, baby music (classical lullabys), baby food, teething rings, lots of blankets and burp cloths, a swing, a jumper, a walker, and anything else you think may be useful during your child’s first year.

I know it’s given that she’ll receive diapers, onsies, wash cloths, bibs, lotions &bath wash, clothes….This is what I use everyday for my baby:

Boppy
Swing
bouncer
bottle warmer
bottle sterilizer
bottle rack
diaper genie
bathtub
travel system
baby monitor

This all she’ll need for her new baby……she can get the other stuff as the baby gets older (high chair, toys, spoons, etc..)
