That way, the parents can get what they know the child needs.

the problem is that at 1 years of age, they don’t have a bold personality yet, so it’s hard to find a nice “unique” gift.

You could go picture frame route - there’s many beautiful frames, and many parents tend not to remember to pick up frames for the billions of photos that they take.

Now this idea would be more for the parents - but you could offer to spend a fabulous afternoon with the 1 year old (ie an afternoon of babysitting).

When my daughter turned 1, I loved all the new clothes I got for her. You can never have too many adorable outfits, especially for girls. It’s highly unlikely that someone else will pick out the same outfits you did. Just try to go up a size, like she will be a year, try getting outfits in size 18months. Possibly shopping for next upcoming season since she may not be in 18mths. just yet. Have fun!

Music is often an overlooked but great gift. Raffi, Dan Zanes or even They might be Giants..Family Hootenanny if they are a bit folky… Listen to some selections at Itunes. If you know the child well burn your own cd. That can be part of a gift. They have beautiful toys that are great for gifts at even a great knitted stuffed animal would be different than the gund variety

Instead of getting her a gift, make a charitable donation in her name. Kids have way too many toys these days anyway. Either that or get her a board book. Reading is the gift that will last a lifetime.
