I love to get a basket and fill it with little baby items — binkies, nail clippers and such, also baby foods (for when the baby is old enough), diapers…and something extra special for mom. Maybe a sparkling cider with a couple of wine glasses and good crackers and such or hot chocolate with a couple of mugs and some treats to eat. I also like to throw in some bath salts, loofahs, scented soaps and such.
The moms always appreciate the items geared toward their relaxation.
you can never go wrong with diapers and wipes trust me they are essential and it doesnt matter how many you get her she will need them. i would suggest getting her a big box of wipes and a few different packages of diapers in different sizes like maybe one pack of newborn and then one size one and one size 2 it really depends on how much money you are looking to spend. but believe me when i tell you you can’t go wrong with diapers and wipes!! they also have these things they are called “diaper cakes” and they are made with all different sizes of diapers and they have toys and stuff in them for the baby as well a friend of mine got one for her baby shower. you can google it and find them i am sure and i think they start at like 40 bucks this would be a great present and she would deffinitely use it. good luck!! here is a really cute one that i found that also has baby powder and stuff with it
I say go for something that is going to increase in value. Too many times people get way too much making it hard to be unique
Ask her to make a list of the things she needs, and work off the list. Sometimes you do end up with triplet of things. But the things you can always do with more of is nappies. I would actually get the bigger size nappies. People will get her the baby baby nappies, i would opt for bigger sizes, because you get broke so quickly when it comes too nappies. Also baby bath, baby oil, powder etc you can always have more of, also nappy rash stuff, even wind drops, baby panadol all that sort off stuff. If your going to buy clothes opt for bigger sizes again, this does help down the track as a lot of people go for stuff that will fit the baby for the first month of their life.
I hope these ideas help you. Good luck shopping !
diapers and wipes like other have said - buy them at somewhere like BJ’s, Costco, Sams Club etc… you won’t believe the savings!!! Something special for the mom like a pretty nightgown, slippers, a coupon to get her nails done, a pedicure, massage, hair cut etc……..
One thing I haven’t see suggested are savings bonds. You can get a $50 bond for $25 or a $100 for $50 and so on. This is what I have always given my nephews and now that they are in their teens they are starting to really appreciate how much $$$ they’ll have one day. I’ve asked them to use it for college or something really special and lasting like a trip to a foreign country etc…
Hope this helps
Depending on what you want to spend…here are a few ideas:
1. Family membership to a local zoo/museum.
2. DIAPERS!
3. Items to make life easier for mom…some of my favorites were a clear shower curtain (baby is happier if he can see mom showering and mom’s LOVE showers), a full length slip proof bathmat, nice comfy PJs,
4. Gift Certificates for food, stores, videos, etc… things new parents may not have money for.
5. Offer to babysit so the new parents can get out when they are ready to cross that bridge.
6. Nice radio/cd player for baby’s room.
Happy Shopping!
You can never go wrong with a gift card.
I love baby stuff, too, but don’t forget about other things that others might overlook.
A good baby sling or wrap is a helpful thing to have.
Meals are good, also. Places like Supper Solutions and such have a thing where you can have a baby shower there and then the new mother gets to keep all of the prepared meals for when she gets home with the baby.
Good ****** pump.
Gift certificate for massage.
Books about breastfeeding, babies, or marriage after children.
Baby massage book/DVD, oil, and little outfit that shows
places to massage baby.
When a baby is born there are two new people in the family. Not only is there a new baby, but a new mother. Dont forget to support and take care of both of them!

Diapers and wipes!! They get pretty expensive and you can always use them!! Or if the baby has everything it needs and then some, try to get the Mom a gift certificate for a spa day or something special like that, she’ll definately appreciate it. :o)
Have a custom diaper cake made with a jungle theme. I make these….and can have custom onesies and blankets put on there to emphasize the theme (complete with red eyed tree frog topper, perhaps??)
Diaper cakes are great because it allows you to gift all the essentials in a beautiful and fun way!!
Check out my site if this sounds like your kind of thing!
Hi, how about personalized books? Kids love to read/hear their own name in the storyline. Go to this website They have lots of titles like Sesame Street, Dinosaur Land, Batman, Spider-Man, Noah’s Ark, Three Little Pigs, Mother Goose, Sports titles and so many more. Check it out - they’re very reasonably priced, and make a wonderful, unique & special gift… It’s something they can enjoy now and keep forever!! Good Luck!
