What are gifts you always give at a baby shower?

bye bye asked:

I usually give diapers, wipes, baby wash, Tylenol and onesies.

My friend is having a baby shower next week, what are some other things that I can give to her that she will get a lot of use out of for the little one.

Baby Photo Album, bibs, bottles and ******* (the brand they choose) outfits…the point is to get the new mom set up so she’ll have all she needs to get her through the 1st couple of months

All your suggestions are great. Some of the more unusual ones I’ve heard of are: going in together with a group of friends for a really good baby carseat, savings bonds or contributions to a college fund, certificates for Kinderfoto or similar. I always make a baby afghan or booties…I crochet and have all the materials to hand. It’s easy, thoughtful and pretty.

Gift cards are nice too for various restaurants. That way, she won’t have to worry about dinner for a while!

a bottle brush, even if she’s ****** feeding its good for when the baby uses a sippee cup, if you know shes bottle feeding a bottle rack is good, safety stuff comes in handy, if your doing a basket think of things other don’t usually give that can be used like gripe water, baby tempra or tylenol, spoons, bowls, sippee cups, baby clothing hangers, laundry det., teething rings, onesies are good even so many of different sizes. The only thing about clothing that was mostly what my son got, everyone gives all small sizes so i brought most of it back and exchanged for sizes even up to 24 months (he 8 1/2 months old & still has a big tub of clothing that dosen’t fit him yet)….

Good Luck I hoped this helped

How about some great little books like The Going to Bed Book by Sandra Boynton, or Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney, or You’ll Always Be My Baby by Robert Munsch…i.e. the “new” classics. Another suggestion is Baby Einstein movies. They are not long and all classical music and I can say that my children love them. They are something that can give mom a twenty minute break.

A baby tub. Almost no first time mom thinks of this. You could fill it with those other items if you have the cash. It will work like a gift basket. Or you could simply buy a cheap set of baby bath towels, tie a ribbon around it all and slap a card on it — Done!

I had my baby shower about 3 weeks ago and here are things that some people didn’t think of….
Any size diapers (helps for when the baby changes sizes and you haven’t gone out to buy any new ones yet)
Bottles ( check the registry or call the mother and see what type she wants to use)
burp cloths, onesies, clothes but in a bigger size then 0-3 (is a life saver!)

The things you usually give are wonderful (diapers, wipes, wash etc) I would also give her something for HER !!! Some lovely shower gel, or chocies or something that she can use on herself. A gift card for lunch or massage, or ******. To remind her is isn’t just a mum but a woman/wife/partner. I would include some laundry soaker to get those baby stains out, and some bibs. The everyday things that you don’t think about maybe not as “glam” as latest designer outfits etc but essentials that she will be stuck without until she can pack baby & everything up and get down to the shop.
