Check the registry, if nothing else, diapers and formula are must haves and will always be appreciated.

Ask if the mother to be is registered at any stores. This way you can just buy something off there, and you know thats something she wanted.

Good gifts are usually clothes, socks, onsies, diapers, wipes..all the basic stuff.

One of my favourite baby shower gifts was a laundry basket filled with different things and “wrapped” with a cool baby blanket. The laundry basket was great because you can always use another laundry basket once the baby arrives. Some of the stuff in the basket included: baby laundry soap, diapers, baby wipes, rattles, sleepers, undershirts, hair brush set, diaper cream, etc.

What’s your budget? My sister made a diaper cake for a friend of hers recently. She spent about $50 on it total and all the ladies at the shower went crazy over it.

A massage for the mom to be. And for after the baby comes, a gift certificate for someone to come clean the house. I got these as a gift when I had my son and it was beyond the best gift I got.

A few things I ended up not being able to live without were:

extra baby clothes
baby socks and hats
laundry detergent (dreft, for sensitive babies)
those stain removing pens
and spit-up rags

You could put a themed gift bag together with that stuff! That might be cute. It’s fun AND functional! I remembered days where I would change my son’s socks and clothing atleast 6 times a day! That’s alot of laundry! Good Luck!

A diaper cake is awesome and starts the parents out with all the need essentials. I got one for my baby shower and after I contracted up a way to make my own, I started making them. They are available on eBay and throughout other websites, just search for them.

They come with diapers, bottles, pacifiers, baby clothes, wipes, bibs, rattles, and just lots of other things. You can find the larger ones on eBay for pretty reasonable prices.

Buy them a giftcard to wherever they are registered- or just plain cash! Clothes and such are nice, but a crib, mattress, car seat etc are essential to bringing baby home and making mom feel prepared to have baby! They are really expensive, and all those gift cards do add up to help. They were my favorite thing at my shower! We are still buying diapers and wipes off of the gift cards we recieved.

If you do a diaper cake or a big basket full of essential things ( which are amazing gifts too) make sure the stuff you buy them is in their registry. Someone got me bottles i couldnt return and didnt use, and diapers that were a brand i didnt want to use- and no reciept…so i was stuck with them :) Formula is risky to buy bc you never know what they baby will need.

Depending on what you want to spend…a little something for mom to be is always nice too!

With our first, we ate at the nearby applebees every dinner for the first week. That would have been awesome to get a giftcard to the local fast restaurant (not fast food).

Diapers were great! Then we could sample different brands (we went with Target/Walmart store brands. Bouncy chairs rock if it fits your price range.

Personalized items are a great way to show you care when getting a baby shower gift. One website I found that allows you to personalize items and also has a great selection of baby shower gifts is.

Etsy has some cute handmade gifts. Specifically, I got the organic Sam hat from this person’s store:=&section_id=&page=1

It’s soft and looks adorable on my friend’s baby. If you are close friends or relatives, you may want to get something more expensive than a hat, though. I also saw and Ipood tshirt that made me ***** up laughing (but I don’t remember where I saw it).

*Baby toys- These can come in different kinds. Some toys can help the child learn, while others are only made solely for entertainment. Examples of baby toys include teething toys, play mats, musical toys, mobile, teething toys and stuffed animals.

* Gifts for the parents- Sometimes, guests like to give baby shower gifts that are more useful for the parent than the baby. These gifts can include spa gift certificate, babysitting coupons and books on parenting.

* Expensive, but practical gifts- parents would certainly appreciate these, since they’re expensive, but very useful. Baby furniture, such as dresser, changing table, bassinet, highchair, and baby swing are common examples. Large accessories, such as a stroller, baby car seat and safety gate are also practical choices.
