Ideas for baby gifts?

benzgirl asked:

An aquaintence of mine just had a baby girl and I’m having a hard time finding a gift for her (she’s gotten everything on her registry)

From your experience, what are some great baby gifts that a new mother would really appreciate?

I was thinking of a Barefoot Dreams blanket (personalized) but would appreciate any ideas ! Thank you!

What about a gift for the mom instead?

Since she already has everything on her registry, treat her to something nice.

Get her a gift certificate for a manicure and pedicure, something where she can be pampered. Chances are she’ll enjoy receiving a gift for her and not the baby!

useful things like towels / clothes/ socks which will stay on a new babys feet (harder than it sounds) are always appreciated
Or
a nice bracelet or keepsake for the baby such as a hand/foot imprint kit or a photo session

The blanket is also a lovely idea

Also dont forget to bring a gift for mum (Chocs and Champagne are most appreciated or bubble bath)

diapers and wipes are the best gifts but i think the sack sleepers and bottle warmers are really good too

I love the idea of the personalized blanket.

I would also get her some larger sized clothes appropriate for the season.

It seems that every baby grows out of all those little tiny things so quickly and then they have nothing to wear!!!

for my sisters baby shower i bought a big basket and filled it with lots of little nick naks (babybottles, babybrush, toys, books, some, diapers, etc.) i wrapped it up with clear giftwrap paper, and put a big bowl on it. she really loved it. she said that it was the most thoughtful gift she had got.

Oh, I love doing stuff like this. (: my god father’s girl friend had their baby, we went to babies R us and bought a really cute diaper bag, put dipaers, toys, clothes, blankets, a first teddy bear, dishes, that kind of thing in there, and brought it to her door, she already had everything, but she appreciated the effort.

You could maybe get a baby’s first piggy bank or something. my little brother got one when he was born, it is amazing, my aunt found a little gold piggy bank, and had it engraved with his name and birthdate.

You could also get like a bible if they are religious, or something of their religion.

I like you’re blanket idea. (: Maybe do that, that’s very cute.

DIAPERS are always a good gift that you know they will use. Socks, PJ’s, baby toys and blankets are all great, practical gifts. Your blanket idea is a good one.
Also, like someone else mentioned, a gift for the mom would be nice - a gift certificate for a mani & pedi, massage or dinner.

That sounds like a really nice idea. Just don’t get her clothes. Usually parents like to do that themselves. You can get them a gift card for Babies R Us (or whatever store they prefer… maybe walmart or target) this way they can use it to get stuff they forgot or essentials like diapers/wipes etc. Something personalized sounds nice as well.

ADD: A gift for mom (or mom and dad) sounds really nice too. Mom will need it. A massage, a dinner gift card, a mani/pedi.

How about a cute, personalized sign for the nursery that accents the décor? They have nice ones here: The artist is a mom with a baby girl.
