How strict is Target’s return policy? I have baby shower gifts I’d like to return without a reciept. I don’t

lysistrata411 asked:

know if they were purchased within the past 90 days. Anyone know if they’d still accept the items and give me store credit? Thanks!

they will probably give you store credit for what the items are ringing up now, so if something was bought for 20 dollars and only ringing up as 10 dollars, thats what your credit will be. tell them it was a baby shower gift.

If they don’t save them back for gifts. I did this on a couple of double items. Just be careful of who you give them to!

I had some wedding shower gifts that I took back and they gave me a target gift card w/the ones w/receipts and the ones w/out they made me go and find something then and there that day to replace it. I thought it was stupid that they couldn’t put it on the gift card. They may also put it on a gift card if you did a register there….they can pull up the register and if it’s on there I believe they will put it on gift card.

if you had a baby registry there you’ll get store credit. if not, kinda depends on who you get, sometimes they’re real strict…no receipt, no return.

They should. That happened to me and they gave me store credit for what the item was worth at the time that I returned it. (Keeps you from returning sale items for full price)

What they did was they took my driver’s license as ID. They keep this info in their database and I think that they give you a limited number of times that you can return things without a receipt.

Good luck.
Their return policy *****. When I tried to return stuff after my shower without a receipt they would not give me store credit or take the items back at all.
I highly suggest NOT registering there. (I had similar problems when I had my bridal registry there.) And please, if you buy gifts from there be sure to pass along the gift receipt too.

Like most stores these days they give you a gift card.

My recent experience is not so good……I got two of the same thing with three different items, and they would only give me credit for two items stating that their policy was only two returns per calendar year w/o receipts. If you have a receipt the returns are endless I guess.

I recently returned a present that I received from Target, and what they explained to me was that without a receipt, the item will be bought back by the store at the current selling price, plus a 30% charge for not having a receipt. My item was originally $19.99 and I got a credit for $13.99. Hope that gives you an idea..

There are exceptions… if it was something bought off your registry.. they will give you the full value. And some items will be credited at a higher or lower percentage

I just returned a pair of shoes that someone bought for my daughter the other day. She got them for her birthday, so they were purchased sometime before May. When I went in there I didn’t even know if they had been purchased there. I had no receipt and explained that they were a gift. They not only let me exchange them, but gave me a couple bucks back because they were cheaper than when they were originally bought. I couldn’t believe it. I also had no problem exchanging baby shower gifts. They gave me a store credit.

I had the same issue….Unfortunately there rule is 3 returned items without a receipt per year. However, if they are items on your registry, and you are still able to pull it up they will accept that as a receipt.

I worked at Target and they can be pretty strict. Just make sure everything is in the original packaging and explain to them that they were gifts. They should take them back and give you store credit for what they are worth at the time they are being returned. So, if one of the items is on sale or clearance when you return it, you will only get the sale or clearance price, and not the actual price. It’s pretty stupid, I know, but it’s corporate policy.

If you registered for your baby shower at Target, they will let you print your registry and use it to return a certain number of items (even if you didn’t register for them.) Just print your registry before you go to the counter to save yourself some time.

Otherwise, they will accept a very limited number of returns, and you will have to exchange the item for an item from the same dept. - so you will have to get other baby stuff. They won’t give you just straight store credit.
