have anybody heard of a superstition where you don’t except baby gifts til after 6 months?

my mom told me not to take any gift for my unborn baby to after my baby 6 months and my friend was 5 months and she was accepting and buying stuff for her baby and over thanksgiving break she lost her baby

I have heard of that, but I don’t believe it. I bought things for both of my babies immediately after finding out I was pregnant. I bought things early on with both pregnancies.

I’ve never heard this. Because my family’s in another state and my doctor didn’t want me to travel after 4 months (I’m pregnant with twins) I had my baby showers really early. The babies have been fine.

I have heard of people waiting until they were past their first trimester just because of the risk of a miscarriage goes down after 12 weeks. As for purchasing and receiving things being bad luck or whatever no I have never heard that. This is my 3rd pregnancy and gifts andother items were purchased and recieved way before 6 months. No problems. I think that your friends loss was just coincidental.

I have never heard of that myself, but the way I see it, do what you want to do. I have 3 kids and everyone started buying them things by the time I was 5 months along. I am now 32 weeks along with twin boys and as soon as I found out I was having twins I started buying the things I needed. My youngest son is 9 so I didn’t have anything for babies anymore. And as soon as I found out after the 3rd ultrasound after I found out that they were boys I started buying things for boys! ( I made sure they didn’t lose anything for 3 months! LOL) And I still make sure they are boys when I have my monthly ultrasounds! But it is totally up to you. If you feel that you want to wait, then wait. If not then go for it and start buying things for your baby! Congratulations and Good luck!
